Welcome Back
September 1, 2026Dear Peabody Public Schools Families,
We hope this message finds you and your loved ones enjoying a beautiful summer with time for rest,
rejuvenation, and adventure. Despite enjoying this wonderful summer weather, we are very excited to turn
our attention to welcoming you and your student(s) back to school on Wednesday, September 2nd! As we look
toward a positive, productive school year, we wanted to take a moment to provide you with some essential
information that will help us get off to a smooth start. Please carefully review the following information:
- The first day of school for Grades 1-12 students will be Wednesday, September 2nd.
- The first day for PreK and Kindergarten students will be Wednesday, September 9th. (Kindergarten
screening will take place on September 2-3.) - Free Breakfast will be available for all students. Doors will open at the following times:
- PVMHS at 7a.m.
- Higgins Middle School at 7:45a.m.
- Elementary Schools at 8:40 a.m.
- Lunch will continue to be served at no cost to all students.
- Bus routes are available on the Peabody Public Schools website: Bus Routes.
- At the lower grades, we are shifting away from a one-to-one chromebook model, instead using
chromebook carts. This shift will ensure our youngest learners have technology when needed balanced
with non-screen activities and learning. New chromebooks will be provided for students entering
grades 6 and 9, as well as to upper grade students new to the school district. The chromebooks will be
distributed directly to students during the first few days of school. All other students will continue to
use their current chromebook. Detailed information in regards to technology insurance will be
provided in early October.
As we make the transition to a new school year, we look forward to working with you and your child to
provide a rigorous academic experience in a supportive environment that meets both academic and
