March 2019 Principal’s 100 Page Reading Challenge!

March 4, 2019

March 4, 2019

Hello Center School!

Saturday, March 2nd was beloved children’s autor (and Springfield, Massachusetts native) Dr. Seuss’ Birthday! Every year schools nation-wide recognize Dr. Seuss’ contributions through Read Across America Day Activities.  This year, instead of one day, Center School will celebrate literacy through out the month of March.

  • On Tuesday, March 5th (New date due to 3/4 Snow Day): Come to school dressed up as your favorite Seuss character or in bright Seuss style!
  • Read as many Dr. Seuss books with your children at home!  Instead of technology screen time or watching TV, snuggle up and read together.
  • Participate in Center School’s Spring Scholastic Book Fair! Monday, March 25th-26th.  Invite Grandparents, Aunts/Uncles, Godparents and special family members to attend our “Grand Event Bookfair” visit on Wednesday morning March 27th between 9:00-10:30! Parent volunteers will call your child down to the library for a special bookfair visit and snack with their special visitor.
  • Participate in my 100 Page reading challenge.  Extra reading logs are available on the front office counter! See details below:
Mrs. Orphanos is challenging each student to read at least 100 pages from March 1st-22nd. If we reach the goal of at least 30,000 pages of reading for our school, Mrs. Orphanos will dress as a different Seuss Character everyday during the week of March 25th through the 29th!

Happy Reading!

Mrs. Orphanos
