Fall 2019 Kindergarten Registration

Kindergarten registration packets for September 2019 have been mailed out. This packet contains: all required forms, a checklist of required documents needed to complete the registration process, and the day, date and times of kindergarten registration at each school. If you do not receive a packet by February 15, 2019, please call the Kindergarten Office for one at 978-536-6056. If you get voice mail, please leave us your child’s full name (kindly spell it), date of birth, your address and phone number and the packet will be mailed to you; you can also access the packet on the Peabody Public School website.

To register for kindergarten you will need to come to your neighborhood school on the scheduled registration day and you will need to bring ALL of the following with you:

1. All of the packet forms completely filled out.

2. Your child’s BIRTH CERTIFICATE.

3. Your driver’s license.

4. TWO proofs of residency = copy of lease or mortgage, current utility bill, car registration, tax bill, etc.

5. Medical information = updated immunizations and last physical.

Please follow the instructions on PAGE 5 of the registration packet to meet document requirements.

We cannot register your child if any of these documents are missing.

**Please note: If your child currently attends one of the District’s preschool programs (Passos-South, Passos-West, Title 1 Preschool or McCarthy Integrated Preschool) you must still fill out a new packet and register your child for kindergarten.

Your assistance in completing all the forms and having all required documents will help us to help you and your child register for kindergarten.

Kindergarten Registration will be held at each school on the following dates:

Center School registers—March 12, 2019

Brown School registers—March 13, 2019

Carroll School registers—March 14, 2019

West School registers—March 15, 2019

McCarthy School registers—March 18, 2019

Burke School registers—March 19,2019

South School registers—March 20,2019

Welch School registers—March 21, 2019

If your child’s last name begins with the letters A to L, please come to register from 9:30AM to 11:30AM.

If your child’s last name begins with the letters M to Z, please come to register from 12:00PM to 2:00PM.

If we have a snow day on your registration day, it will be rescheduled. You will be notified by mail of the rescheduled date.

If we have a weather delay on your registration day, registration will still be held once the building is opened for school.

In May and/or June 2019, each school will hold a Kindergarten Visit Day for all registered incoming children and their families. You will be given information you need to start school; meet the principal and kindergarten teachers; tour the school and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Kindergarten Screening: In August 2019, all registered children will receive an appointment letter for their kindergarten screening. Kindergarten screening is held during the first three days of the new school year. This means that your incoming kindergartner will only come in for their screening appointment during the first three days of school. The first day of kindergarten will be the fourth day of the new school year. The School Calendar for the 2019-2020 school year will be set by the School Committee in the Spring of 2019. Once it is set, the actual dates for “K” screening and the first day of kindergarten will be posted here.
