Anxiety is now the #1 most diagnosed mental health disorder in the USA, and the leading reason why college students seek professional help. Over 40 million people in this country suffer from anxiety, and 25% of all adolescents ages 13 to 18 have an anxiety disorder. Severe and uncontrolled anxiety is similar to a learning disability, in that an elementary or secondary school student simply cannot learn to their fullest potential when anxiety is dominating. But, luckily, anxiety is a highly treatable disorder. This workshop provides the language and direction adults need to assist an anxious youth

Laura Stack’s 19-year-old son, Johnny, died by suicide after becoming delusional from dabbing high-THC marijuana concentrates. Soon afterward, Laura started a 501c3, Johnny’s Ambassadors, to educate parents and teens about the dangers of today’s high-THC marijuana on adolescent brain development, mental illness, and suicide.
In this session, Laura will share the story of Johnny’s marijuana addiction from a parent’s point of view, a poignant chronicle of the shocking descent from innocence to eventual suicide.

Parents and caregivers play an important role in helping young people build healthy relationships—but conversations about friendships, dating, boundaries, and consent can sometimes feel difficult to begin. In this interactive session, participants will learn how to recognize healthy, unhealthy, and abusive relationship behaviors; create an environment where teens feel comfortable asking for help; and use everyday moments to start open, judgment free conversations. Participants will leave with practical conversation starters, strategies for responding to concerns, and free resources from One Love Foundation.
